Just ran the wire up into the attic, screwed the antenna to a rafter, and hooked up the box down in the basement. I had no signal in the basement prior, then 3 or 4 bars at all times after installing the extender.Definitely worth the price and effort if you have frustrating signal issues. The installation was simple. It works as advertised.
We had horrible coverage in our office in the middle of the plant, surrounded by four cinder block walls and a steel girder ceiling, but after getting the zBoost up and running I now have FIVE bars at my desk where I had one or even NONE before. Bottom line: if you're patient and creative enough to find locations that the equipment's happy with, you WILL get improved coverage. Go figure. We actually ended up putting the antenna up in the drop-ceiling and the repeater on the floor on the other side of a cinder block wall. We spent about three hours moving things around, with the indicators giving every possible status: not enough signal from tower, TOO MUCH signal from tower, antenna too close to receiver. Like many other users, we found that the unit was REALLY picky about the placement of BOTH the antenna and the repeater. HOWEVER, once we found positioning that the unit seemed to like, the performance boost was FANTASTIC. There are four of us "On-Call" supporting a manufacturing plant so it's critical that we have good service.
Have not had any dropped calls.I did have a premature AC power adapter failure. 2009, with roof antenna attached to 10 foot mast.I now use cell phone indoors within 20 foot radius of inside antenna. Absolutely no hassle. When I read reviews that criticize this product, I must assume they didn't understand how to install it correctly. Great product, Great CompanyI live in the boonies. Only have weak (1 bar) cell signal standing on peak of house roof.Installed this unit Oct. Emailed company and they immediately Fed Ex shipped a replacement.
this is an excellent booster, works very well way outside of city limits (over 25 miles to any nearby city)
Before the installation, we would have to stand by a window or ask the caller to call back on our land line. The booster also enabled us to use a wireless internet card and say so long to dialup. We installed this booster in our home and have not dropped more than one or two calls since. Now we are almost to the point of dropping the land line.
